Your Child's Future

Choosing your child’s education is a big decision. Probably one of the most important decisions you will ever make for them. It may be the very key that unlocks your child's future.

The Lottery Process

The lottery is publicly noticed annually and is open for public observation. Because the number of applications MSC receives annually usually exceeds the spaces available, MSC holds a lottery in the spring.

A lottery allows all applicants an equal opportunity to gain admission to the charter school. However, priority (that is, pre-lottery admission), can be granted to siblings of current students, siblings of children who are selected through the lottery, former students, or children of faculty members.

Priority enrollment can be comprised of up to twenty percent of the total enrollment. Once the lottery period closes, parents may still apply and will be admitted on a space-available basis.

The lottery application for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. We will accept applications for Infants to Grade 8 from December 22 - March 17, 2024. Use the links in the Resources section of the website to access the online application. The application is provided in both English and Spanish. You will need a valid email address in order to create an account with PowerSchool Enrollment to complete your child's application. The lottery is now held electronically through PowerSchool. This year's lottery will be held via zoom, during the MSC Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Enrollment

MSC is a public charter school authorized by the Charter Institute at Erskine and the South Carolina Department of Education. Additionally, MSC is recognized as an ABC Quality Level B Childcare Facility by the South Carolina Department of Social Services. As such, both authorizing bodies require specific enrollment processes to occur. Below you will find the process for each grade level.

All students enrolling into MSC will be required to provide:

- Proof of Residency (See Resources for requirements)

- Birth Certificate or Passport

- Copy of Parent's Driver's License / ID

- Copy of ID for any individual who will pick up the child

- See below grade level specific requirements

3K Through Grade 8

Families of accepted 3K-Grade 8 students will begin the registration process through the PowerSchool Portal. Once complete, you will need to submit all of the Required Forms listed in the Resources section of the website. These documents may not be collected through PowerSchool registration, but they are required because MSC is a licensed childcare center.

If you do not have access to a computer, you may come to the office and complete the forms using one of our computers. MSC office staff can also assist you in this process if you get stuck along the way.

Infant and Toddler Programs

Registration for our Infant/Toddler program is by paper only. You can find the required documents in the Resources section of the website. You should download, print and complete these documents for each child you wish to enroll.

Fees and Considerations

The State of South Carolina and the U.S. Government generally do not fund school for children younger than age 5. MSC charges instructional fees for students who have not reached the age of 5 by August 31 beginning of the school year. An annual contract is required for each student. Fees are pro-rated for students starting after the first day of school. Please review the 2024-2024 Fee Schedule.

Campus Tours and Visits

We invite you to visit our school and talk to our students and faculty. Experience the personal attention and family atmosphere that we have to offer children.

School tours are generally scheduled Monday – Friday at 9am. Contact us at (803)-432-6828 to schedule a visit. Ask about current COVID-19 protocols that may be in place for tours and visits.
